A 17-year-old boy was saved from drowning at Vodarevu Beach on Sunday after being swept into choppy waters by a massive wave while swimming, about 6 km from Chirala in Bapatla district. The boy was pulled into the sea. Karamchedu Sub-Inspector alerted Marine Police.
Marine Constable Edukondalu with swimmers rushed into rough waters, reached the teen and brought him ashore using a lifebuoy. The team performed CPR on the unconscious boy on the beach and shifted him to Government Hospital, Chirala, where his condition is stable through swift rescue operation. DGP Harish Kumar Gupta praised Marine and Bapatla Police for risking their lives to save the boy.
