Medicover Hospitals is accelerating its growth with plans to invest over Rs 250 crore in two new multi-specialty hospitals in Hyderabad. The Secunderabad facility, built at Rs 100 crore with 300 beds, will be inaugurated on September 16. Meanwhile, a Rs 150 crore, 500-bed hospital with a dedicated cancer care unit is under construction in Kokapet and will be operational by year-end.
With these additions, Medicover will reach 25 hospitals across India, boosting its total bed capacity to 6,400. Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Anil Krishna revealed the group is targeting a Rs 2,000 crore turnover this fiscal and is preparing for an IPO in 2026 to fund further expansion and reduce existing debt of Rs 1,000 crore.
‘Our focus remains on metro cities and Tier-2 towns. While we’re not actively pursuing acquisitions, we remain open to strategic opportunities,’ said Dr. Krishna. Expansion is also planned in Bengaluru and Pune, alongside increasing capacity at the Chandanagar unit in Hyderabad by 150 beds.
Dr. Krishna acknowledged key industry challenges, including retaining clinical talent and managing rising costs driven by global factors and technological advances. He highlighted AI’s growing role in enhancing diagnosis and treatment accuracy. Reaffirming the hospital’s ethical stance, he assured that all medical decisions remain doctor-led, ensuring patients receive only necessary care.
