Min BC Janardhan Reddy reviews progress of National Highways and Railway projects

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Roads and Buildings, BC Janardhan Reddy, has directed officials to expedite the completion of pending national highway and railway projects in the state. Chairing a high-level task force committee meeting at the Secretariat on Monday, the Minister emphasized the need for timely completion of these infrastructure projects.

The Minister set a deadline of December 2026 for the completion of all national highway projects in the state. He directed the revenue department to complete 60% of land acquisition by December 31 and 100% by January 31. Similarly, the forest department was instructed to resolve 70% of forest clearance issues by January 15 and the remaining by February 15.

Regarding railway projects, the Minister emphasized the need to address land acquisition, forest clearances, and alignment issues promptly. He directed officials to expedite the process of land acquisition for new railway projects and suggested that the railway department may fund the land acquisition process for some projects. The Minister also directed officials to issue certificates for the closure of level crossings under the Gati Shakti project.

The task force committee has identified several key issues that need to be addressed for the timely completion of these projects and has recommended measures to overcome these challenges.

The meeting, attended by senior officials from various departments including Roads and Buildings, Revenue, Forests, and Mines, focused on streamlining the process of land acquisition, forest clearances, and fund allocation for these projects. The Minister stressed the importance of coordination between various departments to ensure the smooth implementation of these projects.
