Pawan Kalyan reviews development works

Metro India News | AMARAVATI : Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday undertook an extensive field visit across Pithapuram constituency, reviewing civic amenities and development works while launching projects and distributing welfare benefits as part of his efforts to develop the constituency as a model assembly segment.

The second day of his tour began early with a visit to the Sri Sitaramaswamy temple at Chebrolu, where he offered special prayers on the occasion of Ekadashi. He also inspected newly constructed facilities at the temple, including a chariot shed, yagasala, meditation hall and annadanam hall, developed with Rs 90 lakh allocated for its improvement.

At Nagulapalli in U. Kothapalli mandal, Pawan Kalyan inaugurated the renovated Nagulapalli Comprehensive Protected Drinking Water Scheme, executed at a cost of Rs 9.59 crore. The scheme is expected to provide safe drinking water to around 97,000 people across 52 habitations. He also inspected household tap connections at Kondevram.

At a public meeting at the RR BHHR grounds, he distributed Rs 120 crore in loan cheques to self-help groups, house-site regularisation pattas to beneficiaries, life jackets to fishermen and laptops to Class X meritorious students.

Several major infrastructure projects in Pithapuram town and the surrounding region were also highlighted during the tour. These include measures to resolve the permanent dumping-yard issue, a Rs 225-crore underground drainage system, temple restoration works estimated at Rs 34 crore and a Rs 323-crore coastal protection wall along the Uppada coastline.

Pawan Kalyan also spent considerable time inspecting sanitation and basic infrastructure in villages. At Gollaprolu, Navakhandravada, Kondevaram and Vakapalli, he examined drains, roads, drainage systems and railway station surroundings, besides interacting directly with residents and receiving petitions. He instructed officials to address local problems according to priority and ensure that basic amenities and government services reached people without delay.

Farmers at Navakhandravada thanked him for arrangements that enabled timely irrigation water through the Yeleru canal despite drought conditions. They presented him with a glass vessel filled with paddy as a token of appreciation.

The Deputy Chief Minister also met migrant workers from Chilakaluripet living in temporary shelters near a water tank. They complained that rainwater entered their tents, causing difficulties for families with children. He asked officials to examine the possibility of providing community halls or other temporary accommodation for seasonal migrant workers.

During the village inspections, Pawan Kalyan stressed the need for sustained sanitation, reliable drinking water, roads, drainage, electricity and irrigation facilities, and directed officials to ensure that civic deficiencies were not allowed to persist in rural areas.
