Key new lines commissioned include Peddapalli–Nizamabad, Jaggayyapeta–Janpahad, Akkanpet–Medak and Bhadrachalam Road–Sattupalli, linking remote areas to the rail network. Capacity enhancement works—such as Secunderabad–Mahabubnagar doubling and near-completion third lines between Kazipet–Balharshah and Kazipet–Vijayawada—will ease congestion on busy corridors. MMTS Phase-II has strengthened suburban connectivity in Hyderabad, giving commuters a reliable, affordable option.
A modern Railway Manufacturing Unit at Kazipet, costing Rs 521 crore and nearing completion, will produce multiple types of rolling stock, including coaches and train sets, supporting local manufacturing and job creation.
Station redevelopment is a visible outcome of modernization. Under the Amrit Station Scheme, 40 stations are being upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs 2,015 crore, focusing on passenger amenities, better circulation, accessibility and cleaner environments. Redeveloped stations at Begumpet, Karimnagar and Warangal (including the Cherlapalli terminal) were inaugurated recently, and major hubs like Secunderabad and Hyderabad are undergoing phased upgrades without disrupting services.
Safety has remained central to reforms: the indigenous automatic train protection system Kavach is deployed on 627 km, Kavach 4.0 has been sanctioned for 1,242 km, and tenders are underway for 410 km. Since 2014, about 499 rail flyovers and under-bridges have been built, significantly reducing level crossings and enhancing safety for rail and road users.
Service enhancement includes five pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains serving seven districts and nine stoppages, and three pairs of Amrit Bharat Express trains covering eight districts and 11 stoppages — delivering faster, more comfortable travel alongside affordable options.
The budget also announced three high-speed rail corridors linking Hyderabad with Bangalore, Chennai and Pune. These corridors are expected to bolster economic activity, foster technology and talent exchange, and position Hyderabad as a high-speed rail hub. Continued investment and project delivery are strengthening Telangana’s connectivity, mobility and emergence as an industrial and economic center.
