The Telangana State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini held a crucial meeting with representatives of various political parties at the Commissioner's office on Thursday to discuss preparations for the upcoming municipal elections. The focus was on ensuring smooth voter list compilation and effective election management across the state.

Key discussions included utilizing the 2019 voter list as the foundational electoral roll, implementing the 'NOTA' option efficiently, and gathering feedback on polling station setups, voter registration, and overall conduct. District- and mandal-level consultations with parties have been completed, with efforts now intensifying at the municipal level.

In Telangana's 32 districts, voter lists are being prepared for 6 municipal corporations encompassing 366 wards and 117 municipalities covering 2630 wards. As per the amended Section 195-A of the Telangana Municipalities Act, 2019, draft ward voter lists will be published on January 12. Objections and appeals can be submitted on January 13, with resolutions and final lists issued on January 16. These will be forwarded to the respective municipal and corporation commissioners.

Elections are slated for February, with an official notification expected by January 20, 2026, aiming to complete the process by March.
