The Telangana Government is looking to make the most of the opportunity to reach out to the world and attract medical tourism to Hyderabad during the Miss World event which will witness the congregation of participants from 120 countries.

In the last decade-and-a-half, Hyderabad turned into a medical hub with state-of-the-art hospitals, some with five star facilities sprout across the city.  Healthcare cost in Telangana is 60-80 percent less when compared to United States and Europe. For example, heart bypass surgery in the United States and other Western nations cost $1,00,000. In contrast, such procedures in Hyderabad typically range from $5,000 to $10,000.

What is more! In the USA and Canada for instance, it takes months to even get an appointment but in India a patient can just walk in, says Narendra Pala, Group CEO, Omega Hospitals. In the western world, knee replacements are common but costly. On the other hand, one can get a knee replacement done by spending $5,000 as compares to $40,000.

A senior Telangana Govt official said that Hyderabad has world class hospitals and the best surgeons in the world. The Government will be holding a dedicated medical tourism event at AIG Hospital in Hyderabad on May 16. Presently, foreign patients are mostly from African and Middle Eastern countries. Especially from Oman, Nairobi, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Somalia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries.

K Devanand, Regional CEO, Aster DM Healthcare, Telangana & AP Cluster says, “The Miss World Event being held in Hyderabad is a golden opportunity to showcase Hyderabad and its advancements in medical science and services. Be it equipment, infrastructure and quality, Hyderabad is on par with any country in the world and is much cheaper than most countries.”

As part of the Miss World Pageant-2025 activities, a dedicated medical tourism event will be held at AIG Hospital in Hyderabad on May 16. This will feature Miss World contestants and aims to showcase the advanced medical services available at affordable rates in Telangana, as well as the state's advancements in medical tourism.

Osmania Hospital, NIMS, and MNJ Cancer Hospital, along with private institutions like Apollo and Yashoda to name a few have been delivering medical services for many years. These facilities are equipped with cutting-edge technology, including robotic surgery and telemedicine, as well as multispecialty centers that offer expert treatment for complex medical procedures like cardiology, orthopedics, cancer care, organ transplants, cosmetic plastic surgery, and fertility treatments like IVF.

Several hospitals in Telangana, particularly in Hyderabad, have obtained JCI (Joint Commission International) and NABH accreditations, which are recognised as marks of quality medical care, thereby enhancing patient confidence.
