Welfare not a charity but a path for empowerment: CM

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said on Monday that welfare is not a charity for the poor but a  path for their development and empowerment. On the first day of the collectors' conference held at the state secretariat, CM Chandrababu reviewed the implementation of the government's flagship programs, super six schemes and the functioning of DWACRA and MEPMA groups.  "We will use all means to reduce economic inequality," he said and reiterated that despite the financial difficulties, the government is giving top priority to welfare. 

Stating that as promised the government has given “Annadata Sukhibhava” and “Thalliki Vandanam” scheme, the Chief Minister called upon the collectors to rectify the minor shortcomings that may arise in the delivery of assistance to the beneficiaries. He informed  that the youth got teachers 16,347 jobs through Mega DSC and more than 6,000 jobs in the police department. The CM also declared that the “Stree Shakthi” scheme for giving free rides to women in RTC buses was a success and added that with EV buses, the cost will come down and RTC can generate revenue through the construction of commercial complexes and cargo.

Some of the other achievements which the Chief Minister mentioned include giving honorarium to Imams and Mauzans, Haj House in Vijayawada, financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to Haj pilgrims, ensuring place for brahmins in all temple trust boards, setting up a board for the welfare of workers in the construction sector.

The Chief Minister also called for a balanced development across regions. "Companies like ArcelorMittal, TCS and Google are coming up in Uttara Andhra. Rayalaseema has a large number of industries from Lepakshi to Orvakallu. Apart from Sri City, industries are also coming up in Tirupati. We have also brought policies to encourage MSMEs” the Chief Minister mentioned.
