Welfare of sportspersons is our aim : SAAP Chairman

Andhra Pradesh Sports Authority (SAAP) Chairman Animini Ravi Naidu said on Sunday that the government's aim is to make Andhra Pradesh a sports state by 2026 with the welfare of sportspersons as the main objective. Addressing a press conference at the State Sports Authority office at Vijayawada, he said that the main aim of the government is to make sports a movement in the state, create infrastructure in every district and produce world-class sportspersons. 

After the formation of this government, about Rs 16 crore has already been released as arrears to the athletes and another Rs 8 crore will be given to the sportspersons in the month of February, he informed. He also mentioned that tenders for projects have been completed for the development of sports infrastructure across the state and made it clear that work is going on in all areas in a transparent manner. 

Similarly, keeping in view the future security of the sportspersons, 3% horizontal reservation for eligible sportspersons is being implemented in all upcoming government jobs, he stated. “Sportspersons have been given the option to upload relevant certificates on Sports App every three months to ensure proper distribution of sports incentives. Athletes have been advised to participate only in tournaments organized by sports associations recognized by SAAP. “ he said and urged all the sports associations in the state to upload their certificates and documents on the sports app by January 15, 2026.
