Bharathi Cement, a subsidiary of Vicat France, has welcomed the Government of India’s decision to reduce the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on cement from 28% to 18% effective September 22, 2025. In a statement, the company expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for what it termed a “landmark reform” that will directly benefit home builders, infrastructure developers, and citizens across the country.
Ravinder Reddy, Director-Marketing at Bharathi Cement, assured that the company would pass on the full benefit of the tax reduction to its customers. “Our invoices will reflect the revised GST rate of 18% from September 22, and cement bag prices will be reduced accordingly,” he said.
The company said the GST cut is expected to boost construction activity and contribute to India’s goal of becoming the world’s third-largest economy.
