3-day conference on impact of parasites in animals held

A three-day scientific conference on the impact of parasites in animals organized by the Department of Parasitology of College of Veterinary Science began at PV Narasimha Rao Telangana State Veterinary University at Rajendranagar on Tuesday. 

The inaugural session was graced by the Special Chief Secretary of Animal Husbandry Sabyasachi Ghosh Dairy Development and Fisheries, Government of Telangana and the Vice-Chancellor of PV Narasimha Rao Telangana State Veterinary University. 

This conference was aimed to provide a platform for exchanging knowledge and developing strategies to control parasitic diseases in livestock, which is crucial for the agricultural economy.

Ghosh emphasized that the damage caused by parasites in livestock results in significant financial losses for farmers. He urged scientists and veterinarians to work together to prevent these losses, suggesting that new treatments and management strategies for parasite control, which are being developed through research, should be disseminated to veterinarians and farmers via the university’s extension division.

During the event, ICAR's former DDG KML Pathak, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award and awards were also presented to faculty members and students who exhibited exceptional talent in various fields.

Bijay Kumar Behera, Chief of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Rajendranagar was also present at the conference along with Dr. Sharath Chandra, Registrar of PV Narasimha Rao Telangana State Veterinary University, Dr. Madhuri, Associate Dean of the College of Veterinary Science, Dr. Shankaran, president of the Indian Association of Veterinary Parasitology and others.
