GHMC Commissioner calls for completion of devp works

The GHMC Commissioner Ilambarthi has instructed officials to complete infrastructure development works undertaken by the engineering department on a war-footing basis. The Commissioner held a video conference with CE Bhaskar Reddy and Deputy CE Panasa Reddy to review the progress of water logging points, rainwater holding structures, and foot overbridge (FOB) construction projects zone-wise on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner emphasized the need to complete the works undertaken to meet the needs of the public within the specified time frame, without causing inconvenience. He instructed officials to identify suitable locations for the construction of foot overbridges. He further directed officials to prepare proposals for permanent structures to address the issue of 141 water-logging points and ensure there are no such problems in the upcoming monsoon season.

The Commissioner ordered the immediate completion of rainwater holding structure projects. Out of 12 structures undertaken in the first phase, 4 have been completed while the remaining works are at various stages of progress. He instructed officials to complete the pending works by January and assess the feasibility of new holding structures.

Addressing the development of 125 junctions, the Commissioner stated that a committee has been formed with officials from the engineering, town planning, electrical, advertisement, and UBD departments to resolve land acquisition and utility shifting issues and take necessary steps for junction development.

The Commissioner noted that out of 195 beautification works estimated at Rs 124.68 crore, 28 works have been completed, while 167 works are still in progress across various areas. He instructed officials to expedite the completion of these works. Additionally, he directed officials to prioritize the completion of pending FOB constructions and prepare proposals for new FOBs in technically feasible locations to prevent inconvenience to pedestrians in high-traffic areas.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Engineers Prithvi and Balaji, Zonal SEs Ratnakar, Mahesh Reddy, Nithyanand, Shankar Naik, Chinna Reddy and others.
