The Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO), under HQ Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (TASA), successfully conducted a Drone Pilot Training Programme for ex-servicemen from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana from September 6 to 20. Organised in collaboration with Sahyog Care Foundation, the programme trained 32 ex-servicemen in drone operations.

The 10-day course included four days of theoretical sessions at AWPO Secunderabad on drone technology fundamentals, simulator-based practice at Keesara, and six days of practical field training. Two days focused on industry applications and entrepreneurial opportunities in drone technology.

The programme produced promising outcomes: four companies conducted interviews, 12 candidates expressed interest in an entrepreneurial model with IPAGEUMA (India Drone Academy) for guidance on drone procurement, advanced training, and business development, three opted for advanced training, and the rest were shortlisted for technical and tech-admin roles pending further interviews.

This initiative highlights AWPO’s commitment to empowering ex-servicemen and facilitating their smooth transition to civilian careers.
