Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) vigilance officials have registered criminal cases against 49 individuals for illegally tapping water pipelines. The illegal connections were discovered during routine inspections in different parts of the city.

In the Redhills High-Level Section under O&M Division-4, officers identified unauthorized 20mm water connections at Miraj & Iram Fortune Apartments in Bazar Ghat. The connections, taken without official permission, were registered under the names of Akhil and 47 others. Following the discovery, the vigilance team lodged a criminal case at Nampally Police Station against all 48 accused residents.

Similarly, in Aghapura under Hindi Nagar Section, two illegal 20mm connections were found at house number 5-6-99. The vigilance team registered criminal cases against property owner Shri Salahuddin at Habibnagar and Hyderabad police stations.

HMWSSB officials have warned that anyone found making unauthorized water connections will face strict legal action. Citizens who spot illegal taps or domestic connections used for commercial purposes are urged to report immediately to the vigilance team at 99899 98100.
