The Department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development in collaboration with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) for engineers of Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA), GHMC, HMDA, and R&B conducted a two-day heritage conservation training for engineers. GHMC Additional Commissioner Anurag Jayanthi said that training will contribute to the restoration and preservation of heritage buildings and engineers need special training.
Sajjid Shahid, Hyderabad Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Co-Convenor explained about heritage structures, conservation principles, structural repairs, and use of special materials. The Quli Qutb Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA) will play an active role by acting as a nodal agency for heritage projects.
Officials praised the invaluable support of the Aga Khan Trust for the restoration and conservation of ancient structures in Hyderabad. Practical demonstrations were held for the engineers on the steps to be taken for the restoration and conservation of ancient structures at the Telangana Legislative Assembly building and Qutub Shahi Tombs.
Experts including AKTC India CEO Ratheesh Nanda, Conservation Consultant Dr. Benny Kuriakose, and Conservation Architect Ujwala Menon participated and spoke at the training. QQSUD Chief Engineer B Gopal and EE Mohammed Wahajuddin participated in the training program.
