“Public welfare is at the core of the Telangana government, and every decision we take reflects this commitment,” said Roads, Buildings & Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, during the Praja Palana Dinotsavam celebrations in Nalgonda on Wednesday.

Unfurling the national flag at the Police Parade Grounds, the Minister paid rich tributes to martyrs who fought for Telangana’s liberation from Nizam rule and later for statehood. “Their sacrifices are invaluable,” he said.

Highlighting key welfare and development measures, the Minister said the Congress government is especially focused on women’s empowerment. A ₹ 5 crore women-run petrol bunk has been set up at SLBC to promote self-employment and financial independence.

Among major irrigation and infrastructure projects, he announced:

Revival of the SLBC tunnel lining project, to be completed by December 2027.

₹ 442 crore sanctioned for AMR-SLBC canal lining, benefiting 201 villages.

A ₹ 20 crore Nursing College and Skill Development Centre at SLBC.

₹ 60 crore allocated to expand Mahatma Gandhi University with Law and Pharmacy courses from 2026.

To address urban congestion, a ₹ 596 crore Nalgonda bypass is under construction. A double-decker flyover between LB Nagar and Hayathnagar is also planned to accommodate both road traffic and metro rail.

Calling the Regional Ring Road (RRR) a "super game-changer," the Minister said the project will boost Telangana’s connectivity and economy.

He also announced that after talks with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Centre sanctioned ₹ 868 crore under CRIF for new roads. The upgradation of the Hyderabad–Vijayawada Highway to 8 lanes and approval for the Warangal Mamnoor Airport were also welcomed.

The event saw participation from District Collector Ila Tripathi, SP Sharath Chandra Pawar, MLAs and MLCs, with schoolchildren performing vibrant cultural programs.
