Police cracks down on violations: Rs 8.5 lakh collected in fines

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Traffic Police is taking stringent action against traffic rule violations to enhance road safety. On 18-08-2025, hearings for Drunk and Drive cases under the jurisdictions of Abids, Chikkadapally, Saifabad, and Gandhinagar Traffic Police Stations were conducted at the Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Nampally. A total of 212 individuals appeared; 187 were each fined Rs 3,100, while 25 were sentenced to imprisonment, with fines totaling Rs 99,900.

The total fine imposed in these cases was Rs 6,79,600. Additionally, 147 persons were booked for using mobile phones while driving, each fined Rs 1,100, amounting to Rs 1,61,700 in total. In minor driving cases, 7 individuals were fined Rs 2,100 each, resulting in Rs 14,700 in penalties.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police continues these enforcement efforts to reduce accidents and promote public awareness on traffic safety. Strict penalties aim to deter violations and ensure responsible driving behavior across the city.
