Diwali is a festival of lights, joy, and togetherness, but it can also take a toll on your skin. Firecrackers, pollution, heavy makeup, and seasonal changes often cause skin stress during this time.

Dr. Deepika J Sanbal, Consultant Dermatologist at Kamineni Hospitals, shares important tips to keep your skin healthy and safe this Diwali.

Dr. Deepika highlights that skin burns, allergies, and pollution-related issues rise during the festive season. She advises being cautious while handling fireworks, always wearing protective gloves and keeping a first-aid kit nearby. If you suffer a burn, rinse with cold water and apply a burn ointment. Avoid home remedies like toothpaste or oil, which can worsen injuries.

Skin irritation from new clothes and cosmetics is common too. She recommends choosing cotton over synthetic fabrics and sticking to your regular skincare products to avoid reactions. Proper cleansing after exposure to smoke and pollutants is essential.

Due to increased pollution, moisturizing and gentle cleansing are vital. Sensitive or acne-prone skin requires extra care, and wearing a mask in smoky environments helps. Dr. Deepika also stresses balanced eating, hydration, daily sunscreen use, and continuing prescribed treatments for chronic skin conditions.

With these simple precautions, you can celebrate Diwali while keeping your skin glowing and healthy.
