BJP accused of blocking 42% BC quota: DNT advocates forum demands justice

The Telangana DNT Advocates Forum has sharply criticized the BJP, accusing it of conspiring to block the 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections.

Forum President Satyanarayana Gundlapalli, speaking during a dharna in Hyderabad, alleged that the BJP is actively trying to derail social justice and deny political representation to nomadic and denotified communities.

‘For decades, nomadic groups have remained on the fringes, lacking any meaningful voice in governance. While the state government's decision to grant 42% reservation for BCs is a positive move, without implementing the A, B, C, and D group categorization, nomadic castes will remain excluded,’ he said.

Gundlapalli further accused the BJP of blocking BC empowerment through legal and political tactics. “The Anantharaman Commission’s recommendations are already in use for education and employment. Yet, the BJP resists applying the same framework for political quotas this clearly reveals their anti-BC, anti-nomadic mindset,” he asserted.

The protest attracted DNT lawyers, youth, and activists from across Telangana. Gundlapalli urged the government to resist BJP's obstruction and implement BC categorization to protect democratic rights.
