In a historic move, the Andhra Pradesh Commercial Taxes Department has begun issuing Government Orders (GOs) in Telugu to make governance more accessible. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday released a booklet compiling all Telugu GOs issued so far, calling it a step toward people-centric administration. GOs will continue to be published in English alongside Telugu.
GO No. 344 marked the start of this initiative. Chief Commissioner of State Taxes Babu A. said the move has been widely welcomed, especially by traders, accountants, and professionals across Telugu states. “Reading in one’s mother tongue makes complex information easier to grasp,” he said.
The state also announced the rollout of GST 2.0 from midnight on September 21. The reforms aim to simplify compliance, cut costs, and support households, farmers, and students. Andhra Pradesh alone is expected to benefit by nearly Rs 8,000 crore, contributing to an estimated Rs 2 lakh crore boost to the national economy.
Key reforms include tax cuts on hotels, exemptions on lifesaving medicines and health insurance, and support for MSMEs. Officials estimate consumer savings of Rs 1 lakh crore. Babu A. said the reforms align with the state’s goals, including poverty eradication and sustainable growth.
