State Tourism, Cultural and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh has said that the state government will give a big push to the cultural and art fields and will soon bring back the glory of the cultural and art sector. Minister Durgesh, who visited the Vijaya Shankara Government Music and Dance School run by the Department of Language and Culture in Rajahmundry, which is known as the cultural capital of the state, enquired about the problems faced by the teachers in the locality.
He interacted with the students and learnt about their interest in the arts. Minister Durgesh specially congratulated the students who are studying art education in the school with a passion for the arts and the faculty who are training and grooming the students on ancient arts.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister recalled that the Vijaya Shankara Government's Music and Dance School had rendered outstanding service in the cultural capital from time Rajahmundry immemorial. He said that it was a school that has made thousands of students passionate about the arts and that it was heartening to note that the teachers have taken the responsibility of unearthing the hidden arts in the students.
He said that practicing musical instruments, performing dances, or buying equipment is a costly affair but in a government-run school, there is art education available for a lesser cost. Minister Durgesh opined that there is a need to enrol more and more students in this college and bring our ancient arts to life.
He stated that in the coming days, the collector, municipal corporation and the government will discuss the matter to come up with a program. The minister stated that there is a need to further develop this educational institution. We are ready to provide full financial support to the faculty.
He said that principal Nagalakshmi has brought to his notice the local problems and he assured that he will discuss with the government and work towards resolving it. He recalled that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan are working hard to protect the ancient arts which have been destroyed in the last five years and to nurture the arts.
Speaking on the occasion, Durgesh said that along with him, Andhra Pradesh State Creative and Cultural Committee Chairperson Tejasvi Podapati and AP Nataka Academy Chairman Gummadi Gopala Krishna are working hard to revive the language and culture department. On this occasion, Minister Durgesh called for the greatness of the art sector to be discovered.
